Jared Ogden Writing
Big Wall Climbing: Elite Technique by Jared Ogden
My first book, Big Wall Climbing: Elite Technique, will be hitting stores in May 2005. Published by The Mountaineers, Big Wall Climbing is part of the Expert Series, a series of books written by top professional athletes in their perspective sports. Big Wall Climbing offers readers the most current and complete information for any climber to gain more knowledge about the complex systems, techniques and tools involved with wall climbing. My first person accounts from my many epic first ascents are woven into the book offering insight, humor, and inspiration.
In July 2003 I signed on as a contributing editor at Climbing Magazine. My first cover story, No Way Out, showcased in word and image some of the wildest and most difficult free climbs in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado. It was published in June 2003, #222. In the EPICS issue I wrote "Beaten on the Shield" describing an epic tale of a failed speed ascent on El Capitan's The Shield route. In March 2005 my second feature was published on my recent climbs in Greenland.
I have written several reports for Alpinist about my big wall first ascents around the world and have been published in numbers 4, 8, & 9.
American Alpine Journal
The worlds most prominant climbs are archived every year in this prestigious journal. I've written features in 1998, 2000, and 2005 and have several written reports in the 2004 journal.
For the 2003 national and international Mammut catalogs I was hired as copy editor and have published stories for the Mammut web site.
